Beauty Under Pressure
Tufted textile · 28 × 21.5 × 2 in · 2026
"Beauty Under Pressure" captures the moment of transformation—a butterfly in flight over water and earth, embodying the serpent energy rising through the calcified body. The composition layers a body of water in deep blues against verdant grass, with the butterfly soaring between them. Stinson explores the idea of flight through contrasting textures of pile and cut pile, creating dimensional depth that shifts with light and perspective. The work meditates on metamorphosis, liberation, and the beauty that emerges from pressure.
